Of the 22 research project applications in 2021, 11 have been evaluated further and the decision for funding from AniCura Research is still pending.
Historically, AniCura’s Scientific Council evaluated all applications independently and allocated funds to projects with high scientific standards and potential for being published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. Now, the review process has been extended to also include a Mars Veterinary Health review board with the objective to identify areas of improvement and readjustment on study design, statistics, and ethics.
Of all the research projects that have been funded over the years, more than 25% were published in peer-reviewed journals. The goal is to increase the ratio of published projects to a minimum of 50% within the next years.
